Fashion School Application

Are you working on your first portfolio, so you can apply to fashion school? Fashion schools are looking for a cohesive body of work using different techniques that showcase your taste level and unique style or point-of-view. Perhaps you have already created some samples of work but you are unsure about your signature style, the quality, or what might be missing.

We will give you feedback on any sample work, help you identify and demonstrate your signature style and point-of-view so you will know what to do to make your application stand out from the rest.

 

Portfolio Evaluation

Are you already working in the fashion industry and want to apply for a job at the next level? But when you revisit your portfolio you realize you haven’t updated it for a while and it’s no longer the best reflection of you and your skills.

We will help you to define specifically how to upgrade your portfolio so you can feel confident to apply for the jobs you really want.

 

Photoshop and Illustrator Projects

Do you have the vision of creating a project in Photoshop or Illustrator but you don’t remember how or don’t know which tools to use? Maybe you’ve already completed the work but the results don’t match your vision, look unprofessional or unrealistic.

Design Skills

Are you struggling with too few or too many ideas? Many fashion designers feel challenged when it comes to combining their signature style with seasonal trends and themes. Perhaps you want to design accessories but don’t know where to begin. Sometimes designers haven’t created a Customer Persona that is detailed enough so they struggle to design for them.

We will identify the root of whatever design problems you are experiencing, and craft a personal step-by-step solution for you.

Q: How much do the classes cost?

A: Classes cost between $997 and $2997 per student, depending upon the length and intensity of the course.

 

Q: Do you offer any aftercare support?

A: Yes, all classes include a period of aftercare support via email and/or access to weekly “Ask Me Anything” meetings where questions arising from the class content will be answered. Please see each class for the type and length of aftercare support included.

 

Q: What are XP points?

A: All classes operate on a reward-based system. As you complete the training you will receive XP points (or XXP points which are worth twice the amount). Every two XP points earned convert to a $1 “cash-forward” discount towards another of our courses (maximum of $200 value; up to 10% of the total course value may be applied at a time). You may also donate the points to our scholarship fund and help someone else if you wish.

 

Q: How many students are there per class?

A: 2-10 students for Masterclasses; 2-20 students for Basic classes.

 

Q: How many times do we meet per week?

A: There is one mandatory Review meeting per week, for all classes.

There are up to two additional but optional Creative Lab or Troubleshooting meetings per week, depending on the class.

 

Q: How long is each meeting?

A: All meetings are one hour long.

 

Q: Where do we meet?

A: We meet in a private Zoom meeting room.

 

Q: What time are the meetings?

A: The times of the class will be tailored to suit the participants. In the week before the class begins, all participants will be asked to submit three preferred time slots, and we will make every effort to accommodate everyone.

 

Q: How are the lessons and demonstrations delivered?

A: Some content will be delivered via short, pre-recorded video tutorials accompanied by written instructions. Some content will be delivered via live demonstration and discussion.

 

Q: In addition to the weekly meetings, what is the estimated time commitment?

A: It depends which track you choose. In all classes, there are two tracks. On the regular track you complete the training using our sample materials. On the Over-Achiever track you complete additional work using your own materials.

Regular Track: 3-5 hours per week

Over-Achiever Track: 3-5 hours per week

NOTE: You are free to switch between the tracks as you complete the course. You do not have to choose one or the other.

 

Q: Is Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator software included in the price of the course?

A: No, you will buy a subscription to the software directly from Adobe. It currently costs from $20.99 to $52.99 per month depending on the options you choose. First-time customers are eligible for a free trial period.

 

Q: Who is Design Your Line Fashion Lab?

A: Design Your Line Fashion Lab is a unique space where we spark the innovative creativity that will help designers like you to develop a digital portfolio to realize your future. It is owned and operated by Hunter Publishing, a California corporation serving the fashion education community since 2007.

 

Q: Who will be the instructor?

A: The owner of Hunter Publishing Corporation, Victoria Hunter, creates and teaches the classes. She is an award-winning instructor who has taught design, Photoshop and Illustrator skills to over 3,400 Associate of Arts students and private clients.

 

Q: What name will appear on my billing statement?

A: Hunter Publishing Corporation is the name that will appear on your billing statement.
